Remember !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ? Well it turned out to be a throttle position actuator. I had the other one fail me at only 25k miles, this one made it to 36k. What the actual fuck BMW. The part alone costs more than two weeks of unemployment, good thing I’ve still got a bunch of money saved up. But still, I’d rather not have this expense.

Have you had any other issues with it?

Other than it eating tires and drinking gas? Nope, just both throttle position actuators, which cost $1100 apiece. I’ve taken it to the dealer both times as the first time I was in Tulsa OK for 6 weeks for work and had no idea where else to go, the second time I took it to United BMW in Roswell because I wouldn’t trust the shop I used to take my explorer to and I don’t know a good third party mechanic.

One thousand one hundred eighty-five dollars and ninety-nine cents to be exact. I knew this car was going to be expensive when I got it, but fuck. At least it’s paid off.

Wow, that’s a bit excessive. Is there a fix for the part? I assume with as many of these that are out there, that someone has figured out a way to fix the parts that fail. That’s almost as bad as a new intake manifold for the Audi 5.2 v10 at almost 2k.
Ouch

With all the failures of the part, I hope they at least redesigned it

superior engineering.

Looking online, seems like as long as you get to it early enough, you can basically just swap out the gears inside that get worn down.
Seems like a poor design with the plastic gears in there. Similar to some hvac actuators in GM cars.

If that was an option, I’d pay for it.
